During their heyday, over 16,000 theaters nation-wide showed ten minute newsreels to nearly eighty million patrons each week with a new reel released twice a week. Some of the cameramen who shot the newsreels were minor celebrities. Others worked in relative anonymity telling the stories of others on film. Famous or not, all of them eventually faded away from history and their names fell victim to the fate of being forgotten as time marched on. This book is a collection of sixty-five short stories of their lives and times behind the lens during the glory days of the newsreel era - often in their own words - and offering a window into an era that has long since left the collective memory of their modern colleagues
